Graphic Monday: Elephant Strand

We have a jungle theme going on in the nursery room, including a little elephant display above her bed. So when I came across a picture of little strung up elephant cutouts, I fell in love. Sadly the link was to tublr’s login page so I couln’t find the source {I hate links to tumblr!!} So anyways, I thought these would be super easy to make. All you really need is scrap-book paper & an outline to trace. Except I don’t have scrap-book paper lol. Sooo I made my template in photoshop and found a bunch of cute {non-copyrighted} patterns online. {I also made an outline for anyone who DOES have scrap-book paper and would like to use it:) } Here’s what I ended up using:

I also put all the images on a PDF {download}. Here’s how I assembled them:

I printed the elephants on 8.5×11 cardstock & cut them out
I then decided my order, flipped them over, & added ribbon to the back
I used 3 pieces of Scotch tape on each one
For the top, I looped the ribbon and added a lot more tape 🙂
then I hung the loop on a nail

Here’s how it looks in the room…

I also added tape behind the bottom elephant the row hanging straight

While I was doing this little girl was checking out her books…

Which reminded me I should show everyone where our IKEA canopy ended up – it is now being used for the chair in her room. We kind of just stuck it back there to keep it out of the way, but it actually ended up being pretty cool.

She loves looking at books in her little chair! 🙂

  1. Those are so adorable. Andy made me promise to not put anything animal print in our house when we moved in together. My whole single lady apartment was animal print. Giraffe duvet, zebra shower curtain, the works. So I am going through an animal print separation anxiety episode lately. I want to print out all those baby elephants and hang them everywhere!

  2. I can't wait to try this with your print-out! Thank you! This is so cool…I was just looking for an elephant garland or something similar. I want to make my girls a tent/teepee with a garland hanging on it. So happy I found you. Your blog is so full of life and creativity.
