Inspiration Friday: Involved Parenting

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my role as a mom, and these next couple of quotes in particular I think can provide a great application to parenthood…

-Benjamin Franklin...important to remember...when children are engaged, they learn

I haven’t necessarily been thinking about these quotes specifically, but they are just more well worded reminders to me that being a mother {father/parent/teacher/etc.} is much more than just “being present” at home with my kid{s} but necessitates teaching, directing, disciplining, and most importantly being INVOLVED. Don’t worry… I in no way neglect my little girl – I just love these reminders to help me stay focused and purposeful in what I do with her!

For those of you who teach or have kiddos, are there any things you consciously do or steps you take to make sure you’re “involved” and not just “present”? I would love to hear other opinions on this 🙂
