Inspiration Friday: Photographing Children

For my first child, my mom bought us a photography package through a local photographer to get her newborn – 3 – 6 – 9 – 12 month pictures. This morning we finally got the last of these.. her 12 month pictures {even though she’s 14.5 months lol} and lets just say she was less than cooperative! So today I thought I would post some “professional” children’s photos because it definitely requires some skill!

I think in the future we’ll be attempting our own photography with our kids . What do the rest of you with kids do? Do you do “milestone” pictures? And do you do them yourself or leave it to the “professionals”?

Kate is a proud mama to six amazing little sweeties {through birth + adoption} and wife to the best husband a girl could ask for! She considers herself blessed to be able to stay home with the kids, and is just starting to get into the world of homeschooling. In her "spare-time" she enjoys sharing many of the projects, stories, and gluten-free recipes that are a part of their every day lives!
  • Okay, the entire time I read this post I squealed.  Lol.  I can't wait for my hubby and I to have babies!  🙂

  • We do our own, my husband is a photographer and it's a ton of fun to get out there (usually outside, great natural lighting + beautiful landscape) and have fun as a family taking goofy, silly and sweet photos. Sophie is completely used to being in front of the camera.. we've been snapping away since the day she was born. That's not to say she's always in the mood to have her pictures taken, of course!

We rented a local photo studio a while back and it was a blast. I want to do that again soon. That way, we had a large white back drop to use and lighting equipment.

I LOVE the picture with the little girl in front of the "4" for her age. That's awesome. Sophie just turned 5 in February.. makes me want to go find a big huge 5 somewhere!

Here's another great photographer with excellent baby/kid skills, mostly so I can show off my new niece (they live in Arizona though, boo!)

Isn't she cute?? They also had the same photographer, Sarah Coral, do pregnancy shots. They came out so good too.

  • Aw omygosh this post just made me smile 🙂 Those pictures are absolutely precious! I have my little cousins coming over tomorrow for Easter, maybe I'll make them have a little photo shoot with me too 🙂

  • That's awesome! We love going outside for pictures too… it's much easier to capture smiles playing outside than trying to get her to sit in a chair!

  •  awww – she's adorable! We really liked our professional pics, but it will be nice to be able to get our own whenever we want… for free! My in-laws live in the Phoenix area… I wonder how close they are?

  •  hehe i know right?! You totally should 🙂

  • Super close! My brother lives in Mesa. I lived in Mesa and Tempe with my husband (then boyfriend) while we finished our college degrees. Then we headed to Colorado.

  • We aren't from there though, we moved out west from the east coast. We really love it out here! Colorado has a great weather pattern. Arizona is definitely a great place, but it's too hot for us.

  • Incredible photos. It really makes me want to take photography classes…wish I did before having babies! Live and learn. At least my picture-taking skills are improving thanks to having a blog.

  • hehe – i know what you mean… i just keep practicing and reading little tutorials here and there – it's so much fun!
